Possible solution for scratches in tail light center section...

I notice a lot of complaints from owners regarding how easily the tail light center section (where the Dodge label is) scratches on the newer Challengers. What a shame.
For those of you with this frustrating dilemma, would it be possible to apply a custom cut piece of "Expel" or other similar clear bra material to this area to prevent scratches?

Hmmm, I would say as an owner who has Xpel on his car, yes, yes it maybe possible to add it there, it would stick for sure, it's completely clear. I think though I would want it to cover the entire rear light assembly for more of a seamless fit, though not essential.

The other issue is the "DODGE" letters back there, you either remove them, apply the Xpel then add the letters back on...Or you make cutouts in the Xpel before you apply it, which maybe a bit tricky to get right, just holes, not exact fit.

Ok, well there is a start! My Challenger is an '11 so I am not intimately familiar with the design of the tail light section of the newer models. Perhaps offering both, a center section cut and a "full mask" might be a product worth offering as this seems to be frustrating many owners. Shouldn't be this way in the first place. This issue should be brought to the attention of Dodge.

Yeah, on all four of the 2015 and up Challengers I have owned so far with that rear panel, I have scratched the sh!t out of them without trying at all. No matter how careful or what product I have used, nothing so far seems to diminish the ease of making scratches or reduce the scratches already made. Heck, go to a Dodge dealership anywhere and look at a new Challenger's rear panel, -betcha find at least some marks or slight scratches already!

What are yall doing to cause the scratches? My 2016 and my wife's 2015 dont have any scratches on the shiny black part that the Dodge logo is attached to. Ive got 18K miles and she has 34K miles on hers....

Every time I wash it, the car gets cleaned its with a microfiber wash rag and dried with a microfiber towel.

The bumper cover on the top of the rear bumper is another story. I blame the kiddos dragging their backpacks when they put them in the trunk.

What a shame...COME ON DODGE! Sounds like this is going to be a similar problem as the cracking rocker panels on earlier models. This went on for years....and Dodge knew about it! Well, looks like there may be an opportunity for the aftermarket to profit from this apparent flaw by developing pre cut, clear film kits for this.

Mine is scratch free, was just looking at it very closely while detailing after laser car wash (still always water spots after laser car wash, only on rear). Mine was coated last September, so maybe some added protection. I say debadge and Xpel before it gets scratched, lol.
