Do know when Dodge started this? I don't recall ever noticing but my vin# is on EVERY window. Is that something new, or just on certain models?

FCA Does not include the VIN on glass. That being said many dealers etch the glass after-the-fact and they charge a fee for it. "Pre-loading" in order to increase the profit margin.

Dealer add-on, was a "glass etching" extra charge included?

Those ridiculous preloads are why I travel 150 miles away and do my car shopping in Phoenix. Window tint, flickering third brake light, window etching, ignition disabling systems, floor mats, stripes, door guards, paint sealant, wheel locks and on and on. The dealerships here in Tucson lost lots of business from me over the years due to the prelaods, playing games and lack of competition. On my last Challenger purchase I gave one dealership here a chance to get my business on an inbound car since it was just what I was looking for. All I asked them was to just PDI it and do no add ons. They agreed. Then when I went to get the car it had the preloads added. So I left. At the same time the exact same car, even sequential VINs was being offloaded to a dealership up in Phoenix, a dealership that only does window tint and nothing else. Emailed them for a quote, went up there and saved $6500 over what they wanted here. I've always saved loads up there. When they know you're coming from out of town, they know they only have one shot at you. No fuss no muss. The car was cleaned and waiting for me and even the finance guy took no for an answer THE FIRST TIME when he asked about an extended warranty. I was literally in and out of finance in ten minutes.

When I was buying my 16 Scat Pack, it was In Transit. While sitting with the finance guy, I noticed that same VIN Etching charge. I told him "I'm not paying for that, I never asked for it!". He responded "Well, it's too late now, we've already done the etching, sorry." My response was priceless: "Well, your etching guy must be pretty good, the car is on a train from Canada. When did he board the train and etch the windows?". He got a weird look on his face, and deleted the charge.

that must have a certain dealer in Beaverton...which I visited in 2008 and realized what a waste of time they were
